Lance Bandley ReportingSome of the best National Guard marksmen in the country are at Camp Williams this weekend preparing to see who the best in the country is.
The course is dusty and 300 yards. There's no standing or sitting for this competition.
"We shoot combat rifles and combat pistols. And we have a sniper competition and a machine gun competition," says Sgt. Keith Cartwright.
Cartwright says most of these National Guard members are from the western United States. Friday, they tested out the sights on their guns, getting ready for the heated competition the next few days.
"You get to see some of the best shooters of the world. You get to shoot along side them and you get to pick their brains. They show you the things they find to be an edge," says Cartwright.
Cartwright says this is also a training exercise as well, since all of these National Guard members either will be or already have been deployed to the Middle East.
