Jon Dunn ReportingThe University of Utah Medical Center is getting ready for a facelift, but it will mean some RVs parked at the hospital will be displaced.
At the RV parking lot, some have been there for months while loved ones receive treatment at the hospital.
"It's too far to commute and for a lot of them it's not practical to stay at a hotel," says U-Med spokesman Chris Nelson.
Tim Newberry's wife is here and she's been at the hospital for a month after a brain aneurism.
"For the next 10 months we're trying to negotiate with the KOA on North Temple and see if that's an opportunity. We'd run a shuttle service back and forth," says Newberry.
Nelson says they are trying to find alternatives for the RV users and trying to keep them as close to the hospital as possible.
"It's short term inconvenience for hopefully some long term gain," says Nelson.
