UT Martin takes down Bethune-Cookman 74-56

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Myles Taylor scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Tennessee Martin to a 74-56 win over Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday night.

Marshun Newell hit four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points for UT Martin (3-1). Twymond Howard added 13 and seven rebounds for the Skyhawks. Taylor made all eight of his free throw attempts to help UT Martin convert 88.5 percent (23 of 26).

Mikel Trapp led Bethune-Cookman (2-4) with 11 points and Denzel Dulin had 10. The Wildcats were held to 15 of 43 (34.9 percent) from the field and were out-rebounded 37-28.

Trapp gave Bethune-Cookman a 26-25 lead with 5:19 left in the half, but the Wildcats finished on a 13-1 run. Alex Anderson and Howard scored five apiece during the run and Dee Oldham had a three-point play.

Newell made two 3-pointers during a 13-0 run to give UT Martin a 58-36 advantage with 10:24 remaining.
