Bark beetles are threatening to kill the trees above your tent and a good time in your favorite U.S. Forest Service campground. "There could be a forest somewhere in the state, or one specific campground, that may have a lot of beetle-killed trees in it," said Kathy Jo Pollock, spokeswoman for the U.S. Forest Service.
Pollock says campgrounds in Wyoming and Colorado are being closed due to the danger of beetle-weakened trees falling on unsuspecting campers.
But the infested trees are under control at the moment in Utah. "We have been working on that problem, so we don't see any campground closures for that reason," Pollock said.
