(KSL News) Two little boys were badly burned in a cooking accident this afternoon.
It happened at the house at 1631 W. Ivy Circle in Salt Lake City.
The two- and four-year-old boys were playing in the family's kitchen when they became interested in a pot of beans cooking on the stove.
They opened the oven door and stepped up on it. Their weight tipped the stove, and the pot of beans emptied on top of them.
Lt. Craig Gleason, Salt Lake City Police Dept: "Nothing criminal happened here, and if there is anything that went wrong-- I'm no expert in building code-- but I do believe the stove is supposed to be secured. So there's no ill intent. Any one of us could've walked away from our kids long enough for that to happen."
Both boys were taken to Primary Children's Hospital. A large portion of their bodies were burned.
