SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Some school districts in Minnesota have canceled classes today, and slick roads have greeted morning commuters in Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin. It's part of the ribbon of wet, frigid weather that pelted parts of Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas with snow yesterday. A powerful storm that's moving into the region from Alaska is threatening to drop a foot or more of snow in some areas of the upper Midwest, while dropping thermometer readings as much as 40 degrees.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks aren't showing much change in the opening minutes of a new trading week. They're holding at the record high levels reached last week. Stock markets around the world moved higher as the dollar continued to drift lower following slightly disappointing U.S. jobs numbers.

MOSCOW (AP) — Russia's Central Bank has ended its daily controls on the value of the country's currency. It allows the battered ruble to float freely in financial markets earlier than planned. It's come under sustained pressure in the face of Western sanctions over Ukraine, along with plummeting oil prices.

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Today marks the 21st day since Kaci Hickox was last exposed to an Ebola patient. As of tomorrow, the nurse in Maine will no longer require daily monitoring for Ebola symptoms. And she says she looks forward to stepping out her front door "like normal people." But she says she won't back away from the debate over treatment of health care workers who have cared for Ebola patients.

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) — Rescue crews are searching for about a dozen hikers from a church group who never returned from a weekend hike in a Southern California nature preserve. A TV station (KNBC) says the young adults and teens set out in the Eaton Canyon Natural Area yesterday morning and were expected back by the evening. They were reported missing at 9:30 p.m. The hikers range in age from 14 to 30.
