PARK CITY — Utah Republicans are getting the most of Vail Resorts’ $6,250 in campaign contributions leading up to the general election on Tuesday.
Two Summit County Republicans each received $500: state Sen. Kevin Van Tassel and state Rep. Mel Brown.
If re-elected, these men could represent Park City Mountain Resort’s new owners. They each received money from Vail Resorts Management Co.
On top of those donations, $1,500 went to the Utah Republican House Campaign Committee, and another $1,500 went to the Senate Republican Political Action Committee.
Top leaders in Utah’s legislature also took $750 from Vail Resorts for their re-election campaigns: Senate President Wayne Niederhauser, and House Majority Leader Brad Dee, who could become the next Speaker of the House.
Utah’s elections website also shows that Vail Resorts donated $750 SenDemPAC, a Political Action Committee which supports Utah Democrat campaigns.
Vail has also given large amounts of cash to campaigns in other states, most notably Democrats in Colorado, where Vail is based. All told, Vail Resorts spent just over $84,000 on the 2014 election cycle, according to OpenSecrets.org.
