Amanda Butterfield Reporting The brother of the young man found dead on a roof speaks with KSL.

"It's been labeled and really hurtful for my family for my brother to be known as a body, smelling like garbage on the top of the roof."

And he has the same questions investigators are asking. How did his little brother die and end up decomposing on that roof?

The entire family has a lot of questions. They admit Erik Liddiard got into some trouble in the past, but say he was doing better. He had a job, friends, and family. But no one can even guess how he ended up on the roof of that building.

Mike Liddiard/Brother: "Everyone is totally baffled by him ending up the way he did."

Mike Liddiard is Erik's oldest brother. And he admits Erik went through some tough times growing up.

Mike Liddiard/Brother: "He was a little troubled."

Erik had a criminal history including forgery, burglary, minor in possession of alcohol. But things were starting to look up for the 22 year old.

He told Mike he was working, and he was as close to his family as he had ever been.

Mike Liddiard/Brother: "He helped me paint my bathroom last week, and set some rocks, and do yard work."

But Monday afternoon, Erik was found dead on the roof of a building. It was the smell of his decomposing body that lead to his discovery. Mike got the news from his dad.

"I thought it was horrible."

Autopsy reports show no sign of foul play -- no gun shot wounds, stab wounds, or any obvious sign of death. And there's still the question of why Erik was holding a ladder, and what he was doing on that roof.

Investigators are trying to contact people who last saw or talked to Erik to create a timeline that lead him to this roof.

Mike is hoping someone will come forward with that information, because he doesn't want his little brother to be remembered as just a body.

Mike Liddiard/Brother: "A lot of the family would like some type of closure, just what happened would help us out a lot."

Investigators are now awaiting results from a toxicology report. That will tell them the exact cause of death. They expect those results in about six weeks.
