RENO, Nev. (AP) — The city of Reno is considering a plan to ban any new casinos or unrestricted-gambling licenses on the north edge of downtown. It's part of an effort to redevelop the mile-long corridor linking the city to the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno. Existing holders of gambling licenses within those boundaries would be allowed to continue to operate but no new ones would be granted.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Visitors to some of the state's cornfields will soon find themselves literally lost in Nevada history. Farms in Smith, Fallon and Winnemucca have carved out corn mazes in the shape of Nevada and its slogans to celebrate the state's 150th birthday. Nevada turns 150 years old on October 31.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Boyz II Men has been named the musical artist of the year at the Casino Entertainment Awards. The winners were announced at the awards ceremony last night as part of the week's G2E Global Gaming Expo for the casino industry. Britney Spears and Guns N' Roses were also nominated.

MIAMI (AP) -- A person with knowledge of the agreement says that the Miss Universe pageant is coming to South Florida this winter. Florida International University will host the pageant on Jan. 25, according to the person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no details were authorized to be released until a news conference today. Las Vegas hosted the pageant in 2010 and 2012.
