OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry has announced a local foods challenge for schools during October.
The agency is encouraging schools statewide to use more Oklahoma products during the month and share their own local food recipes and menus.
Oklahoma Secretary of Agriculture Jim Reese says Oklahoma agriculture has a variety of specialty crops such as watermelon, carrots, beans, peas, squash, sweet potatoes and beets.
Selected recipes and menus will be featured on the Oklahoma Farm to School website at http://www.okfarmtoschool.com .
