LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a man who died and a woman who was critically injured after their motorcycle went off the road in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Clark County coroner's officials say 53-year-old Las Vegas resident Kirk Overby died in the Sunday night crash, while 57-year-old Gail Overby suffered life-threatening injuries.

Las Vegas police say the two were on Calico Basin Road, north of State Route 159, when their motorcycle crossed a double yellow line on the road and then drove over sand and dirt. Both were ejected as they crossed rough terrain.

Kirk Overby was pronounced dead on the scene, while Gail Overby was airlifted to University Medical Center.

Authorities were investigating why the motorcycle went off the road.
