DETROIT (AP) — Tigers outfielder Rajai Davis is out of the lineup Sunday against Minnesota because of a sprain around his midsection.
Detroit can clinch the AL Central title with a win.
Davis hurt himself Saturday night against the Twins. Detroit is describing the injury as a sprain of the pubic symphysis, and trainer Kevin Rand said he was "very encouraged" by the fact that Davis was feeling pretty good before the game Sunday.
The plan was to put Davis through some stretching and see what he was able to do.
Davis came out of the game Saturday after grounding out. Rand says Davis felt "kind of a shift" around his midsection when he came out of the batter's box.
