WINTERVILLE, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina politicians are telling smart high school students about opportunities that follow if they are accepted into West Point or one of America's other military service academies.
Gov. Pat McCrory's office is helping to arrange information sessions Saturday for prospective cadets in Wilmington and Winterville.
U.S. senators and congressmen nominate students in their districts each year to attend our nation's service academies. Information sessions are open to interested high school students.
The offices of U.S. Reps. Mike McIntyre and Walter Jones are holding one session Saturday morning at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Wilmington. Staffers for Reps. Walter Jones and G.K. Butterfield hold a similar event Saturday afternoon at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Winterville.
