SANFORD, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in central Florida say they continue to actively investigate the source of calls after Seminole County elementary schools were threatened with bombs, causing at least eight schools to be evacuated.
The sheriff's office announced that all schools had been cleared late Friday afternoon. Seminole County Public Schools received multiple calls around 1:30 p.m. Friday regarding bombs at the schools.
Officials said law enforcement was on scene at every public elementary school in the county. Schools evacuated by law enforcement included Casselberry Elementary, Winter Springs Elementary, Lawton Elementary, English Estates Elementary, Red Bug Elementary, Lake Orienta Elementary, Forest City Elementary and Spring Lake Elementary. Parents picked up their kids from various off-campus locations.
The county operates nine high schools, 12 middle schools and 36 elementary schools.
