CINCINNATI (AP) — Brewers has been eliminated from post-season contention after a 5-3 loss to Cincinnati that saw Milwaukee commit three errors that led to two unearned runs. The Brewers loss clinched a wild card berth for San Francisco which hosts San Diego tonight.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Matt den Dekker drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning and the Mets went on to beat Washington 7-4 in the first game of a doubleheader. The loss will prevent the NL East champ Nationals from clinching home field throughout the playoffs at least until tomorrow.

NEW YORK (AP) — Derek Jeter will take the field at Yankee Stadium for the final time in his distinguished 20-year career with the team tonight against Baltimore. The 14-time All-Star shortstop and long-time Yankee captain is retiring at the end of the season.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies say free-agent forward Michael Beasley is among several additions to their training-camp roster. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2008 draft averaged 7.9 points, 3.1 rebounds and 15.1 minutes while playing 55 games last season with Miami.

DETROIT (AP) — Detroit with be without Pavel Datsyuk for the start of the NHL regular season due to a separated right shoulder. The 36-year old Red Wings star center was injured in an exhibition game Monday night against Pittsburgh and general manager Ken Holland expects Datsyuk to miss 4-5 weeks.
