MERIDIAN, Idaho (AP) — A southwest Idaho motorcycle officer who made a high-speed pass on the right of a civilian motorcycle rider has been disciplined.
The Meridian Police Department in a statement Thursday says the officer violated policy by operating the police motorcycle in an unsafe manner.
But the agency cited state law involving personnel matters in not naming the officer or the penalty received.
The civilian motorcycle rider had a video running and recorded the pass on Interstate 84 on Aug. 30 as the motorcycle officer pursued a vehicle whose driver had committed a traffic violation in a construction zone.
The police agency says officers are required to operate police motorcycles in a safe manner for the safety of the officer and others on the roadway.
