CANADENSIS, Pa. (AP) — The Pennsylvania State Police say they've found items abandoned or hidden by the suspected shooter in last week's deadly police barracks attack. The items include an AK-47-style weapon and ammunition. Thirty-one-year-old Eric Frein (freen) remains at large, despite the intensive search of the wooded neighborhood where he lived with his parents in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Police say a man seen with a University of Virginia student before she disappeared is being sought on an arrest warrant charging him with reckless driving. Charlottesville police say Jesse Matthew came to the police station yesterday, asked for and was provided a lawyer's name and then left. Police Chief Timothy Longo says Matthew got into a vehicle and left the police station at a high rate of speed, endangering other drivers.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The former stepson of a man accused of sneaking into the White House says the Iraq war veteran owns "plenty of firepower" that he could have brought with him if he meant any harm. Omar Gonzalez is expected to appear in court tomorrow to face charges of unlawfully entry while carrying a dangerous weapon — a knife in this case. But Jerry Murphy says his former stepfather never goes anywhere without his knife and he's sure Gonzalez didn't intend to hurt anyone.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Some 2,700 people remain under evacuation orders because of the massive King Fire burning in Northern California. The blaze has charred 128 square miles east of Sacramento, destroying at least 32 structures including 10 homes. More than 5,000 firefighters are battling the wildfire, which is only 10 percent contained.

NEW YORK (AP) — The movie adaptation of the young-adult, science fiction novel "The Maze Runner" is this weekend's top attraction in theaters. It's $32.5 million in receipts easily topped the $13.1 million debut of Liam Neeson's private eye thriller "A Walk Among the Tombstones." ''This Is Where I Leave You" opened in third.
