(KSL News) A Clearfield High School teacher got quite a surprise at the office today.
Welding instructor Bruce Decker was honored with the Huntsman Award for Excellence in Education.
Colleagues say Decker is a gentle giant who sparks a love of welding in his students.
The teacher is known for serving pancakes and eggs direct from a grill in the welding shop.
Many of his students help communities by building rails for handicap access or creating signs.
Decker is among 10 other educators who will receive a $10,000 award in May.
