VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — John Robertson threw for four touchdowns and Kevin Monangai ran for two more as Villanova rallied to beat James Madison 49-31 on Saturday.
Robertson completed 22 of 27 passes for 337 yards for the Wildcats (2-1, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) with the junior's four touchdown passes tying a career high. Robertson opened the game by completing 15 consecutive passes. He completed his first 17 against Towson last season.
Monangai ran for 129 yards on 15 carries, the ninth time the senior has gone over 100 yards.
Vad Lee completed 23 of 43 attempts for a school-record 406 yards and three first-half touchdowns for the Dukes (2-2) who led 24-14 early in the third quarter. But Robertson threw two short scoring passes to Earnest Pettway to take the lead for good at 28-24 with 1:54 left in the quarter.
Lee led JMU in rushing with 72 yards and a score.
