ROOSEVELT — A motorcyclist was critically injured Friday when the driver of a welding truck made a left turn in front of him, Roosevelt police said.
The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of 800 South and U.S. 40, according to Roosevelt police officer Luke Stradinger.
Stradinger said Jordan Jensen was waiting to turn left onto the highway from 800 South in a welding truck. Jensen, 30, saw another vehicle making a right turn off the highway onto 800 South and apparently believed he was clear to make a left turn, the officer said.
The vehicle making the right turn, which was not involved in the crash, had blocked Jensen's view of Coy Clayburn, who was riding his motorcycle west on U.S. 40, Stradinger said.
Clayburn, who was wearing a helmet, was taken by ambulance to Uintah Basin Medical Center with multiple broken bones, Stradinger said. The 22-year-old Duchesne man was stabilized and flown to a Wasatch Front hospital for treatment, the officer said.
Jensen, of Altonah, Duchesne County, was not injured in the crash, Stradinger said. No citations have been issued because the investigation is ongoing, he said.
