MADISON, Wis. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is heading to Wisconsin later this month to campaign for fellow Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
A spokesman for the Republican Governors Association confirmed Wednesday that Christie was coming on Sept. 29 but said details of the visit are still being worked out. A spokeswoman for Walker's campaign said she had no details yet on the visit.
Walker is in a tight re-election contest against Democrat Mary Burke, a former Trek Bicycles executive and state Commerce Department secretary.
Christie and Walker are both mentioned as potential 2016 Republican candidates for president.
While they could be potential rivals, they have spoken highly of each other over the years. Christie is chairman of the Republican Governors Association and previously campaigned for Walker in Wisconsin in 2012.
