LAS VEGAS (AP) — Firefighters say multiple people were stung by bees and three people were taken to a Las Vegas hospital after two men apparently stirred up a large beehive late yesterday afternoon. Rescuers wearing hoods and full protective gear used fire hoses and firefighting foam to remove the hive and clear the bees from the area near East Tropicana Avenue and Topaz Street. Police detained two men who they say threw objects at the hive.

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities at Grand Canyon National Park say they're searching for a man reported missing on a hike along the South Rim. Park officials say 36-year-old Marc Buckhout was reported missing by a member of his family on Saturday evening. He's from the Phoenix suburb of Glendale.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A trial begins today in Reno for competing lawsuits between Amtrak, Union Pacific Railroad and a Nevada trucking firm over a train-truck crash that killed six people three years ago. Amtrak and Union Pacific Railroad have accused John Davis Trucking of Battle Mountain of negligence in its hiring. The trucking firm accuses the two rail companies of failing to provide a proper signal warning at the grade crossing on U.S. 95.

QUAPAW, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma-based tribe is partnering with the owner of a Las Vegas hotel to reopen a track in southeast Kansas and convert it to a casino. Phil Ruffin is owner of Las Vegas' Treasure Island Hotel and Casino he's teaming with the Quapaw Tribe's Downstream Casino to open a state-owned, privately managed casino in Crawford County.
