Mary Richards reporting
A Murray teenager did just fine last night on American Idol. But another David may have become his top competition.
Utahn David Archuletta was the first to perform last night. He sang "If You Believe" on Mariah Carey night.
"You set the benchmark. I think the guys are going to have an easier time tonight than the girls, because there's not the comparison. But I have to tell you, you performed that very well," a judge told Archuletta.
While David Archuletta did very well for the judges, the other singer named David came on a little later.
David Cook turned a Mariah song into a brooding, grunge-rock ballad, and he drew rave reviews. We'll see tonight how it all plays out.
