LONDON, Jun 13, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Heather McCartney has said she will sue Britain's News of the World, pending the completion of her divorce, The Guardian reports.
Her lawyers have accused the tabloid of falsely reporting that she engaged in prostitution when she was in her 20s, something they call "untrue and highly defamatory," the newspaper said.
But with her recent split from Sir Paul McCartney, she has said she will not sue the tabloid until her divorce is complete so as to avoid upsetting her daughter further, the newspaper reported.
"The interests of her daughter are of paramount concern," a statement from McCartney's lawyers said. "She will defer issue of legal proceedings until the arrangements in relation to the divorce are concluded but intends to sue at that stage all parties (including individuals) who are intent on damaging her reputation."
The tabloid articles are not the beginning of Heather McCartney's problems with the press, The Guardian said. Last week, The Sun featured topless photographs of her taken from a German book she posed for when she was younger.
