This morning we had more soundbites from distraught mothers in Texas wondering when their children will be returned to them and weeping at the injustice wrought by the state of Texas.

Wait a minute.

These are mothers who raise their daughters to become wives to older men when they are 14, 15 and 16. These are mothers who share a man with several other women. These are mothers who allow their teenaged sons to be booted out of their "heaven on earth" so the older men can have the appropriate 3 to 1 ratio of young girls to choose from.

Are they really unaware that forcing underage girls into sexual relationships is illegal in this country? Not to mention flat out wrong? That allowing their men to have sex with multiple women is disgusting?

These polygamist mothers all sound so blissfully sweet and can't understand why their children have been segregated from them, that they just want to be left alone to live peacefully. Give me a break.

I may be hopelessly optomistic, but I hope these kids will be allowed to be educated, given toys to play with, and be allowed to mix in the "real" world. I hope that they can be given a chance to succeed and avoid being married off at 14 or tossed out at 15, depending on their gender.

I said it on the air the other day, and I still believe it; the constitution does not protect child abuse.

Wouldn't it be a great thing if this was the beginning of the end of polygamy?
