SALT LAKE CITY — Anwar never knew his mother, and when he was seven, his extended family in Ethiopia kicked him out because they could not afford to feed and clothe him. He begged for food during the day and at night took refuge in a bamboo tree.

"I came to the city to become a street kid. The other boys would kick me every night," explained Anwar through a translator.

He faced abuse on the streets and would often go days without anything to eat. Watch this Inspire Report to see how a friend and the love of a stranger changed his life forever.
