ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota is looking for a doctor to help oversee the state's first medical marijuana program.
The Star Tribune reports (http://strib.mn/1oWndiL ) the state is offering about $115,000 to $205,000 a year for a doctor who will provide full-time medical and research expertise.
A Health Department official says the new medical marijuana office will have a staff of about 10 people. A different job posting for a program administrator received roughly 160 applications in June. A department spokesman says about 30 applicants met the qualifications for the position.
The research manager stands to be paid almost twice the administrator's salary because the position requires a medical degree and a Minnesota physician's license.
Around 5,000 Minnesota residents are expected to have access to medical marijuana products when the program stars in July 2015.
