(KSL News) Investigators in Southern Utah say tonight a welder accidentally started a fire that burned through a town.
"We had ten minutes to grab what we could and get out."
Dozens of families in Veyo had to evacuate when a welding spark set brush and dry grass on fire. The fire destroyed two homes, a greenhouse, half a dozen cars, a horse trailer, and heavy equipment.
Crews contained the fire this afternoon. It burned almost one hundred acres. No one was hurt.
Mike Melton/Utah Division Forestry Fire: "Year in and year out, we're saying it's the worst fire season. But I'll tell you, with these conditions it's going to be a real long summer."
