Sandpoint police shoot, kill woman who had knife

SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say Sandpoint police officers have shot and killed a woman who was armed with a knife.

KHQ-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1jdgz8g ) that Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler says police arrived in the area of North Third Avenue and Alder Street near Bonner General Hospital on Tuesday night on a report of a woman with a knife.

The woman had a confrontation with the two officers, and they opened fire, killing her. Her identity was not immediately released.

The Coeur d'Alene Police Department is assisting the investigation.
