Markham, Ontario, Canada - The Multimatic Motorsports / Miller Racing team, based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, had another day of mixed results at New York's historic Watkins Glen International during Round 5 of the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) on June 28.

Both of the team's Ford Mustang Boss 302Rs performed well in practice and qualifying, with Jade Buford qualifying the No. 15 he shares with Scott Maxwell in sixth place in the 25-car Grand Sports class and Ian James clocking in 11th in the No. 158 that he co-drives with Billy Johnson.

At the start of the 2.5-hour race, however, the car ahead of James missed a shift as the green flag flew. James swerved to avoid it but made significant contact, damaging the front suspension beyond immediate repair, ending the day very early for James and Johnson.

Meanwhile, the No. 15 had a solid, uneventful race, coming home in sixth place after strong runs by both Buford and Maxwell and sharp pit stops by the Multimatic Motorsports / Miller Racing crew. The current championship standings show Buford and Maxwell tied for eighth in the driver standings, with James in 19th and Johnson in 21st. In the team standings, the No. 15 is currently in seventh and the No. 158 in 17th.

The team continues to struggle with IMSA's Balance of Performance rules, which regulates the performance amongst the various makes and models, which seem to favor other manufacturers at the moment.

"I was hoping we'd be more competitive at The Glen," said Maxwell, "but realistically we finished about where we should have. The race was uneventful, almost boring in fact, with no major issues. Our pit stops were excellent and the car was solid, but the Balance of Performance is just not in our favor at the moment, so we just have to suck it up and keep our heads down until the series gets the balance right. That could be 2015, unfortunately!"

"We had a good race in our No. 15 Boss," said Buford. "We don't quite have the pace of some of our competition, but the team executed a perfect race and Scott and I got all we could out of the car and came home in sixth. I'm looking forward to our next race at Mosport, which will be a new track for me, and hopefully we can continue to log good finishes." "It was a very disappointing day for the 158 car," said James. "I feel bad for the team and Billy after all the hard work they put in, and the race was over before it started. But we will be back in two weeks at Mosport and go for it again."

"Ian had a really tough break at the start of the race," said Johnson, "and our race was unfortunately over before it began. Accidents happen, though, so we just have to keep moving forward. We know what we're capable of, and if we could catch a break we could demonstrate it! Hopefully our luck will turn at Mosport."

The race from Watkins Glen will be televised on a tape-delayed basis at 10:00 a.m. EDT on Sunday, July 6. The team's next outing will be at Canada's historic Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, more familiarly known as Mosport, on July 12. Live streaming and live timing and scoring will be available at www.IMSA.com. IMSA offers mobile apps for both iPhone and Android platforms, available at Google Play and the App Store, respectively, which also provide live timing and scoring among other features.
