SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Unified Police are investigating a shooting in Taylorsville after the victim went to a Wal-Mart to buy first-aid supplies. Police say a man who had been shot was shopping for supplies with friends at Wal-Mart early yesterday. An employee noticed the wounded man and called police. Police say the man was walking down a street after a party when a group of men drove up in a white car and started a conversation. One of the men in the car then shot the man.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Mormon man who's well-known for advocating for gay rights and questioning some church policies says a Utah church leader is taking time to decide whether he'll be excommunicated. John Dehlin says the regional church leader told him yesterday in Logan that he needs to think and pray about Dehlin's case. A week ago Ordain Women founder Kate Kelly was excommunicated.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a Texas man has died at an annual counterculture gathering in forest outside Salt Lake City. Wasatch County sheriff's Deputy Chief Jared Rigby tells The Salt Lake Tribune that 68-year-old Timothy Gillespie was found dead in his tent Saturday at the Rainbow Family gathering. The sheriff's office doesn't suspect foul play.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities have recovered the body of a 64-year-old tourist who fell to his death while hiking near Snowbird resort. Unified police said Saturday William Pierce of Chicago took the tram up the mountain on Wednesday and texted his family a photo of the view that evening. That's the last the family heard from him. They reported him missing Friday morning when he missed a flight home.
