BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A man has died five days after he was pulled from a canal in Boise. Authorities say the man died Saturday. Boise police have not released his name. Authorities believe he may have been a transient. The man was pulled from the New York Canal on June 23 and taken to a hospital.

HAGERMAN, Idaho (AP) — A state water official has approved a plan to get the Hagerman fish farm its needed spring water. However, it remains to be seen if the ruling will end the years of legal proceedings between groundwater users and the fish farm company, Rangen. Rangen operates near Thousand Springs and contracts with Idaho Power to raise fish to be stocked in the Middle Snake River and American Falls Reservoir.

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A recount has confirmed last month's vote by Pocatello residents retaining an ordinance banning discrimination against a person because of sexual orientation or gender identity. The recount on Friday was done at the request of a group opposed to the city ordinance approved by the Pocatello City Council in June 2013 and backed by voters on May 20.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Starting July 1, new state laws will go into effect. A new fiscal year kicks off in Idaho. This means the state will begin implementing a new budget and new policy. The laws set to take effect this year include allowing guns on public college campuses, renewing a tax rebate for films shot in the state and creating a new fund to kill wolves.
