HAGERMAN, Idaho (AP) — A state water official has approved a plan to get the Hagerman fish farm its needed spring water.
However, it remains to be seen if the ruling will finally end the years of legal proceedings between groundwater users and the fish farm company, Rangen Inc.
Rangen operates near Thousand Springs and contracts with Idaho Power to raise fish to be stocked in the Middle Snake River and American Falls Reservoir. It has senior rights to the water and recently sought to exercise those rights because it was seeing water volume decrease.
The Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/1nRWeCW) that Rangen attorney Fritz Haemmerle stopped short of saying the company would close its water call, which could affect some 2,300 junior right holders' groundwater access.
