WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) — Sebastian K trotted the fastest mile in harness racing history, finishing in 1:49 on Saturday night in the $100,000 Sun Invitational for older trotters at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Sebastian K, an 8-year-old stallion who has raced four times in the U.S. since arriving from Sweden during the winter, broke the record of 1:49.3 set by Enough Talk in 2008.
Sebastian K, Sweden's Horse of the Year in 2012, was driven by trainer Ake Svanstedt.
Sebastian K has won all four of his starts in the U.S. for owner Knutsson Trotting. He hasn't trotted slower than 1:50.3 and set a record for most wins in 1:50.3 or faster.
Modern Family was seven lengths back in second, and Arch Madness finished third.
