LONDON (AP) — Two of the top players at Wimbledon were winners today. Men's No. 2 Rafael Nadal (rah-fay-ehl nah-DAHL') rallied back after losing the first set to Mikhail Kukushin 6-7 to win the next three sets 6-1. And French Open winner Maria Sharapova (shah-rah-POH'-vah) defeated American Alison Riske 6-3, 6-0.
SPARTA, Ky. (AP) — This week's NASCAR race is taking place this evening in Sparta, Kentucky. The pole sitter is Brad Keselowski, with point's leader Jeff Gordon starting from the second spot. The Kentucky Speedway is the only track on which Gordon doesn't have a victory.
NEW YORK (AP) — The Yankees and Red Sox are squaring off again this evening in New York with Masahiro Tanaka facing John Lester. For Tanaka this will be his second attempt to become baseball's first 12-game winner of the season.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Buffalo Sabres have landed the rights to the son of hockey great Claude Lemieux (leh-MYOO'). With the first pick of the second round of the NHL draft, the Sabres chose Brendan Lemieux, a forward, with the 31st overall pick. Claude Lemieux played for the New Jersey Devils star and was a Stanley Cup champion.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Chicago Blackhawks have traded forward Brandon Bollig to the Calgary Flames for a third-round selection in the NHL draft. Bollig had seven goals and seven assists while playing in 82 games this season, and then had an assist in 15 playoff games.
