WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is taking in a Marine Corps parade with his family.

The 57-year-old summertime tradition features the U.S. Marine Band in a display of music and marching just after sunset.

The band is also known as "The President's Own." Its director, Col. Michael J. Colburn, is retiring soon after 27 years with the organization.

The parade is held every Friday night during the summer at the Marine Barracks in southeast Washington.

Before heading over to the barracks, Obama, his wife, Michelle, and their 13-year-old daughter, Sasha, ate dinner at the BLT Steak restaurant near the White House.
