LONDON (AP) — It's raining in London which means just one court is being used at Wimbledon. That's Centre Court which has a roof. Men's No. 1 Rafael Nadal (rah-fay-ehl nah-DAHL') has won his match, beating Mikhail Kukushkin 6-7, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. French Open winner Maria Sharapova (shah-rah-POH'-vah) is also playing on Centre Court today.
RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The one loss and done portion of play in the World Cup starts today. It's called the knockout round and the games being played today feature host Brazil against Chile and Colombia playing Uruguay.
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Dalton Prout to a two-year contract extension. Prout was a restricted free agent who could have received offers from other teams beginning on Tuesday. The 24-year-old has three goals and 10 assists in 82 career NHL games, all with Columbus.
SPARTA, Ky. (AP) — Brad Keselowski will start tonight's Sprint Cup race at Kentucky from the pole. Point's leader Jeff Gordon starts right behind Keselowski and is looking for his first win at Kentucky Speedway.
BETHESDA, Md. (AP) — Round 3 of the PGA's Quicken Loans National in suburban Washington, D.C., is underway without its host, Tiger Woods. The former World No. 1 failed to make the cut yesterday. The lead after 36 holes was shared by four men, Rickey Barnes, Marc Leishman, Oliver Goss and Patrick Reed, at 6-under.
