MAGNA, Utah (AP) — Police are trying to find whoever fired into a McDonald's drive-thru window in Magna while trying to commit a robbery. Authorities say nobody was injured last evening when a vehicle with three males inside pulled up to the window and an occupant showed a gun and demanded cash. Police say the employee backed away and one man shot through the window. The bullet hit the freezer.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Mormon leaders in Salt Lake City are trying to figure out what to do with a flagpole that was cemented onto a mountaintop by missionaries. Hikers discovered the American flag this week on Mount Olympus, on the east side of the Salt Lake valley. It was flying above a T-shirt bearing the name of the mission and the signatures of several missionaries.
NEPHI, Utah (AP) — Officials say a group of Boy Scouts helped lift an overturned SUV off a woman who later died of her injuries in southern Utah. UHP officers say 60-year-old Maria Sandoval died after the crash Wednesday in Juab County. An 11-year-old girl, a 16-year-old girl and the male driver were taken to the hospital. Troopers say the SUV was on I-15 near Mona when a tire blew and the vehicle rolled several times.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Jazz selected Duke forward Rodney Hood with the No. 23 pick of the NBA draft last night. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward is the first Duke player ever drafted by the Jazz, who recently hired former Duke player Quin Snyder as their head coach.
