HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A state commission reviewing the Newtown school shooting will be hearing from the parents of three of the first-graders killed in the massacre.
The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission is set to meet Friday morning at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford. The panel has been reviewing current policies and making recommendations to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy on school safety, mental health and gun violence prevention. Its final report is expected this summer.
The parents of victims Jesse Lewis, Benjamin Wheeler and Josephine Gay are scheduled to address the commission Friday.
Malloy created the advisory group after the killings of 20 first-graders and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown on Dec. 14, 2012.
