NEW YORK (AP) — Jose Ortiz rode his fourth winner of day as Ziptronic held off Sandy'z Slew by three- quarters of a length in the $65,000 feature Thursday at Belmont Park.
Ortiz has seven wins over the last two days.
Ziptronic, an 8-year-old gelding trained by Gary Contessa, raced to his eighth win in 45 starts. The time was 1:08.04 for six furlongs on the firm turf for New York breds.
Ziptronic paid $12.80, $5.40 and $3.90. Sandy'z Slew returned $4.10 and $3.20 as the 5-2 favorite, and Mr Rosenthal paid $4 to show.
