BENTON, Mo. (AP) — A southeast Missouri community continues to mourn the 15-year-old victim of an accidental shooting in a high school parking lot.
Rising Kelly High sophomore Kaden Robert died Monday night after he was shot in the head as he and three friends were preparing to drive away from the Benton school after playing basketball. Scott County Sheriff Rick Scott says Robert was shot when one of his friends tried to pass him a loaded gun belonging to the friend's grandfather and it accidentally discharged.
The Southeast Missourian (bit.ly/1pyo1Jz ) reports that more than 100 people attended a Tuesday afternoon prayer vigil for Robert, an honor student and football and baseball player. A second prayer vigil was held Tuesday night at the Catholic parish where the victim's family worships.
