SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Polls have closed in Utah for Tuesday's primary election after light turnout was reported during the day.
Party candidates will be decided in only a handful of races Tuesday as most nominees were chosen at nominating conventions in April.
Republican state Sen. Evan Vickers is expected to face a stiff challenge from former lawmaker Casey Anderson in his southern Utah district in one of seven contested legislative races during the primary election.
Another closely watched race comes in Utah County, where voters will chose Tuesday between incumbent Dana Layton and former lawmaker Brad Daw in a rematch of the 2012 Republican primary.
Around the state, voters will select candidates for Utah County and Washington County attorneys.
