BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Longtime Carroll College athletic director Bruce Parker is the new athletic director at Rocky Mountain College in Billings.

Rocky President Bob Wilmouth announced Parker's hiring at a press conference Tuesday. Both schools are members of the NAIA Frontier Conference.

Parker says the opportunity for new challenges in his hometown was too appealing to pass up. He said he hopes to increase Rocky's fan following in Billings, despite competing with four high schools and Montana State Billings.

Parker graduated from Billings Senior in 1975 and Eastern Montana College (now MSU Billings) in 1979. He was an associate athletic director at Montana State in Bozeman for 22 years before taking the job at Carroll in 2003.

At Rocky, he takes over for Bobby Beers, who resigned in March after just over five years on the job.

Parker has been honored as an NAIA national athletic director of the year and was twice named the region's athletic director of the year.
