CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — About 100 teachers are participating in a conference focusing on technology in the classroom.
The West Virginia Center for Professional Development is hosting the first of two conferences that begins Tuesday. The second of the Infusing Technology conferences is slated to begin July 22 in Morgantown.
Officials say the three-day conferences will offer breakout sessions that focus on apps and web-based resources that will help educators increase student engagement, teaching strategies and classroom management.
Among the presenters will be Gabrielle Rhodes from Union Elementary in Upshur County. She is a National Science Teacher of the Year awardee.
Officials say that with more districts providing iPads and other technologies to students, teachers often need the professional development to ensure these tools are used effectively and to their fullest potential.
