WASHINGTON (AP) — State and federal agents have arrested 281 pimps in the last week in a nationwide crackdown against child trafficking. And nearly 170 children were rescued in the operation. The raid is the eighth this year in more than 100 cities. The FBI says nearly 3,600 children have so far been recovered from the street.
BAGHDAD (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry has personally delivered a warning to Iraq's leaders. Kerry told them that they should set aside differences in the face a major threat from Sunni extremists who have recently seized towns and territory. Kerry said the future of the country depends on steps the leaders must take immediately.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is applauding an international coalition that has completed the removal of more than 1,000 tons of chemical materials from sites in Syria. The Obama administration says officials have verified that Syria's chemical production, mixing and filling equipment has been destroyed.
BEIRUT (AP) — A security official in Lebanon says an explosion has shaken a neighborhood in southern Beirut. The official says the blast was apparently caused by a car bomb that went off after midnight near an army checkpoint and a cafe. Several people were injured.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge in Los Angeles wants more legal justifications from lawyers for Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, who opposes the $2 billion sale of the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Sterling's estranged wife Shelley is trying to sell the team without his consent. Doctors who examined him said he's mentally incapacitated. The NBA wants the team sold because of Sterling's racist comments.
