FAIRBORN, Ohio (AP) — Wright State University in southwestern Ohio says an accidental acid spill led officials to evacuate nine buildings and cancel some classes.
The school near Dayton says acetic acid was spilled Monday morning in the basement of a campus building. The Dayton Daily News reports the school's environmental health and safety director says a lab technician dropped a bottle of the chemical used to clean glass and laboratories. No injuries were reported.
The university's website said the nine buildings would remain closed until about 7 a.m. Tuesday.
The website says the cleanup was completed and the university remained open.
The school says employees and students affected by the building closures due to the spill were allowed to re-enter their buildings Monday afternoon to collect personal belongings.
