RIBEIRAO PRETO, Brazil (AP) — France center half Raphael Varane missed Sunday's training because of gastroenteritis, while three other players also sat out the team session.
Center half Mamadou Sakho is nursing a sore thigh after limping off during the second half of Friday's 5-2 win against Switzerland. The Liverpool defender had some treatment and then did light jogging away from the rest of the squad with the team physio.
Third-choice center back Laurent Koscielny and midfielder Paul Pogba were both rested for the afternoon session as a precautionary measure. Koscielny has been hindered by tendinitis in his Achilles in recent weeks, although he replaced Sakho against the Swiss.
France tops Group E and plays its final game against Ecuador in Rio on Wednesday.
