OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Vanderbilt third baseman Xavier Turner has been declared ineligible for an unspecified violation of NCAA rules and will not play in the rest of the College World Series.

Turner was batting .333 with three stolen bases in the Commodores' first two CWS games. He started 63 of 64 games and was batting .284.

Vanderbilt said its baseball program and athletic department are in NCAA compliance. The school said it would have no further comment.

The Commodores played Texas on Friday afternoon, needing one win to reach next week's best-of-three finals.
