PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A 19-year-old will serve at least six months in prison for smuggling a gun into a Philadelphia school where he was an alumni mentor.
Prosecutors say Donte Walker gave the gun to a student who accidentally fired it, injuring two classmates in the arm.
Walker has been in custody since the January shooting. The Philadelphia Inquirer (http://goo.gl/kZKAGP) reports that both sides say the victims have forgiven him.
Authorities say Walker brought the gun for a student who feared being attacked on the way home from Delaware Valley Charter High School in North Philadelphia.
Seventeen-year-old shooter Raisheem Rochwell is serving two years in a juvenile facility.
School officials say Walker was allowed to bypass metal detectors because he was a special guest. They say the security process has since been revised.
