CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Officials say a 77-year-old Nevada prison inmate from Las Vegas is dead after treatment for a chronic medical condition in Carson City. Prison officials say Carlos Icasiano died Monday at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center. Records show that Icasiano was sentenced in July 2004 in Clark County to five to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to lewdness with a child under 14 years old.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — More than 100 applicants have been given the go-ahead to grow and process medical marijuana in unincorporated Clark County areas outside Las Vegas. The county commission rejected just five applications during a marathon seven-hour public hearing.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Sen. Harry Reid is asking Congress to transfer 119,000 acres of federal land to Native American tribes at sites in northern and southern Nevada. The northern Nevada measure would transfer 93,000 acres of federal land into trust for seven northern Nevada tribes. The second would grant more than 26,000 acres of federal land to the Moapa Band of Paiutes outside Las Vegas.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The chairman of the Nevada Gaming Commission is stepping down and another commissioner is in line to take his place. Gov. Brian Sandoval says chairman Pete Bernhard will resign effective June 30. Dr. Tony Alamo will take Bernhard's place as chairman. He's been a commissioner since 2008.
